The short version: MySmptom collects nothing. Everything you enter is stored only on your iPhone and in your own iCloud account. There is no MySmptom server, no account to create, and no way for us to see, receive, or access your data.
1. Who we are
MySmptom is an independent iPhone app, operated by an individual developer — referred to here as "we" or "us". It is a personal, general-purpose tracker for how you feel (mood, energy, aches, everyday symptoms, and the like).
2. What you enter
You may enter: the symptoms you choose to track and their severity (0–10); mood check-ins; physical and emotional daily check-ins; free-text notes; optional photos and voice memos you attach; and, optionally, your first and last name. You are never required to provide a name, an email, or any account details.
3. Where your data is stored
Your entries are stored on your iPhone and synced privately to the private database in your own iCloud account (Apple CloudKit), under your Apple ID. If you use more than one Apple device signed into the same Apple ID, your data syncs between them and is backed up by iCloud. This storage is provided by Apple and is additionally governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and iCloud terms. We are not a party to that storage and hold no keys to it.
4. What we collect
Nothing. MySmptom has no server of its own. We do not collect, receive, transmit to ourselves, sell, or share your data. The app contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party SDKs, and no crash-reporting that sends us your content. We have no technical means to access what you log.
5. Device permissions
- Camera / Photos — only if you choose to attach a photo to an entry. Photos are stored with your entry in your iCloud; they are not sent anywhere else.
- Microphone — only if you choose to record a voice memo for an entry. Voice memos are stored with your entry in your iCloud.
- Face ID / passcode — only if you turn on the optional app lock. Authentication happens entirely on your device; MySmptom never sees your biometric data.
6. Sharing & export
MySmptom shares your data only when you choose to. The Export feature builds a CSV file or a PDF report on your device and hands it to the standard iOS share sheet, so you can email it, save it to Files, or AirDrop it — to whatever destination you pick. That transfer is yours; it does not pass through us.
7. Your control over your data
- Export / email your entire history at any time (CSV or PDF report).
- Delete everything — "Delete all data" in Settings permanently erases your entries from the device and your iCloud. This cannot be undone.
- Deleting the app, or signing out of iCloud, removes the app's local copy from that device; the iCloud copy is governed by your iCloud settings.
8. Children
MySmptom is a general-audience well-being tool and is not directed to children under 13. Regardless of age, we collect no personal information from anyone.
9. Legal & jurisdiction
We are based in Canada and handle personal information in line with Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA). Because your information stays under your own control in your iCloud and is never received by us, we do not act as a custodian of your records. MySmptom is not a medical or health app and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent any condition, and it is not a HIPAA-covered service.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date. Material changes will be reflected in an app update where appropriate.
