MySmptom is built to be fast on a hard day: mood is one tap, a symptom is a few seconds, and everything lands on one timeline you own. Here's the whole app.
Setup — your first two minutes
There's no account and nothing to sign up for. From a fresh install:
- Open the app. A quick intro shows what MySmptom is, then you land on the home screen — ready to use right away.
- Turn on iCloud (recommended). On your iPhone: Settings → your name → iCloud, signed in with iCloud Drive on. Your entries then back up and sync across your Apple devices. The app also works fully offline — it saves to your phone immediately.
- Add your name (optional). Settings → your name. It only personalises your exported report; you can leave it blank.
- Reminders are already on. One gentle check-in reminder a day by default. Change how many and when — or pause them — in Settings → Reminders, or with the button at the top of the home screen.
- Lock it (optional). Settings → Require Face ID / passcode, if you want the app locked to you.
That's the whole setup. Everything below is how to use it day to day.
Getting started
MySmptom runs on iPhone (iOS 16 or later). For your data to sync and back up, sign into iCloud on your iPhone with iCloud Drive turned on (Settings → your name → iCloud). The app works fully offline too — it saves to your phone immediately and syncs whenever you're online. There's nothing to sign up for.
Log your mood
Tap a face
At the top of the home screen is a row of five faces, from rough to great. Tap the one that fits — it logs instantly, with a light buzz and a check so you know it saved. Tap again later whenever your mood shifts; each tap is its own entry.
Daily check-in
Rate physical & emotional
The quick check-in card lets you set how you feel physically and emotionally (higher = better) and add an optional note, then Save. Use it once a day, or whenever you want a fuller snapshot than a single mood tap.
Track a symptom
Add a symptom
Tap Add symptom, give it a name (e.g. "tingling", "headache"), and optionally set a first severity. It appears in your list on the home screen.
Log an intensity
Open a symptom and tap an intensity (0–10) or a mood face — each logs instantly, with a buzz and a check. When it passes, tap Mark symptom as stopped. In the note box below you can add a note, a photo, or a voice memo — you've already logged how it feels, so there's no slider to set. Change the time to record an entry for earlier.
Fix a mistake
Tapped the wrong number, or logged something by accident? Open the Timeline (clock icon) or a symptom's Recent list and tap any entry to change its value, note, or time — or delete it. Swipe an entry left to delete it quickly.
Remove a symptom you no longer track
On the home screen, swipe a symptom left and tap Archive. It leaves your list so it's out of the way — but its history is kept and is never deleted, so your past record stays intact. Archiving is how you tidy your list; there is no way to permanently delete a single symptom (that's deliberate, so you never lose a long record by accident).
The scales — what the colours mean
Colour always means the same thing: green is good, red is bad.
- Severity / intensity (symptoms): higher = worse. 0 means none / stopped. Runs green → amber → red as it climbs.
- Well-being (mood, physical, emotional): higher = better. The same ramp reversed — low is red, high is green.
Timeline & trends
Read the timeline
The clock icon opens one timeline of every mood and symptom entry, newest first. Read down it before an appointment.
See the trends
The chart icon opens Trends: intensity over time for each symptom, your mood trend, and your physical/emotional check-ins — so the pattern across weeks is visible at a glance.
Reminders
MySmptom reminds you to check in once a day by default — the first time, it asks permission to send notifications. In Settings → Reminders you can choose how many reminders a day (1–6) and the window they fall in; set that window to evening or overnight hours if you'd rather be reminded at night. Pause or resume anytime with the button at the top of the home screen.
Your data — email, lock & delete
Email or save your data
Settings → Email data (CSV) or Email report (PDF) opens a new email with the file attached and no recipient — you choose who to send it to. Prefer to keep it? Save or share puts it into Files, AirDrop, or any app. CSV is every row; the PDF is a formatted summary.
Lock with Face ID
Settings → turn on Require Face ID / passcode. MySmptom will ask for Face ID (or your passcode) each time you open it.
Delete everything
Settings → Delete all data permanently erases every entry from your device and your iCloud. It's a two-tap confirm and can't be undone — export first if you want a copy.
Your privacy
Your data lives only on your iPhone and in your own iCloud — never on our servers. We collect nothing. See the full privacy policy.
Troubleshooting
My data isn't syncing to my other device
Both devices must be signed into the same Apple ID with iCloud Drive on and a network connection. Sync happens in the background and can take a moment. Check Settings → your name → iCloud.
It says iCloud isn't available
You're likely signed out of iCloud or out of iCloud storage. MySmptom still works on-device; it will sync once iCloud is available again.
I want to start over
Settings → Delete all data wipes everything cleanly (export first if you want to keep a copy).
